Whatr Does It Mean if Pet Face Turns Blue
Does your dog or cat sleep on your bed with you? If so, what position do they go for?
According to new research, two-thirds of pet owners will share the bed with their furry friend this evening. The study, commissioned by pet wellbeing specialists Itchpet.com, has found that more than a quarter of animal-lovers feel less alone when sleeping with their pet, whilst 37% like their pet's warmth and one in 10 get a feeling of "safety and security" from allowing their cat or dog into their bed.

The study of 2,000 pet owners further reveals the 10 common sleeping positions that are adopted by our pets. Experts claim that we can learn a lot about the bond between us and our four-legged friends by observing the way we share the bed with them.
Here are the 10 pet sleeping positions and what they mean about your bond:
1. The Faithful
What does it look like? Pet lies at the end of the bed by your feet.
Whilst this position is believed to be reflective of the loyal pet, the Faithful actually isn't a sign of endearment. Instead, it is likely that you're a restless sleeper and this is as close as your pet can get whilst maintaining an easy escape route.
2. The Knee Nuzzle
What does it look like? Pet cuddles into the bend of your legs whilst you lie in the foetal position.
Warmth and security attract your pet to this position as you curl up together, almost like big and little spoons. This position suggests that your pet is happy to hand over all responsibility for their wellbeing as if they were a little puppy or kitten once again. Here, your pet feels protected and can literally sleep like a baby.
3. The Donut Divider
What does it look like? Pet curls up into a ball between your legs.
Cats and dogs are able to hear far higher frequencies of sound than us, so by placing themselves in between your legs with the blankets above and below them, they create the perfect sound-proof bubble for a peaceful night's sleep. Here, they are protected from any disturbing noises and enjoy the slight compression of your legs either side of them.
4. The Wall
What does it look like? In between you and your partner.
Whilst this position may be an endearing choice for warmth and security from your pet, we all know our animals are more intelligent than they look. A dog or cat who is particularly close to one partner may use this strategy to keep the other at a distance and ensure that they get whatever attention may be on offer. Here, your pet is definitely showing favouritism and stealing all your partner's attention.
5. The Pillow Bandit
What does it look like? Your pet takes over the entire pillow.
Leaving you vulnerable to early morning rubs, licks and meows, this position is adopted by smaller cats and dogs who enjoy the extra softness of your pillow and like their breakfast served on time. However, if you snore, this definitely won't be your pet's first choice.
6. The Under-Cover Lover
What does it look like? Your pet resides under the duvet.
This position creates a safe and dark hideaway for your pet. Here, the warmth and familiar scent of their owner comforts your furry friend. Just like some people like to sleep under weighted blankets, some dogs sleep well when they are lightly compressed by bed sheets.
7. The Cuddle Bug
What does it look like? Your pet cuddles into the bend of your arm.
Like a small baby, this position lets your pet get closer to your face where they can feel the reassurance of your heartbeat, whilst maintaining a quick escape route to other parts of the bed if you alter your sleep position. Strategy comes into play again here, as this kind of pet may also aspire to one day become a Pillow Bandit. This position may just be your pet biding his or her time as they gain your trust, allowing them to then advance to the prime pillow spot.
8. The Sneak
What does it look like? Inches further up the bed to get closer to your head.
With similar aspirations to become the Pillow Bandit, this sneaky pet is likely to be quite dependent and is inseparable from their owner. This four-legged friend takes comfort in hearing your heartbeat and gentle breath whilst you sleep.
9. The Superhero
What does it look like? Your pet sprawls out on their tummy next to you.
This position, which is more likely to be adopted by dogs, gives your pet the best of both worlds – they can remain close to you whilst receiving those all-important belly rubs. Furthermore, sprawling out means that the pet is less likely to overheat and can also demonstrate a protective side to your pet as they are increasingly ready to jump into action if there are any disturbances during the night.
10. The Octopus
What does it look like? Your pet has stolen the middle of the bed and you're right on the edge.
This position is like the animal version of a human starfish, a sleeper who steals all the bed space with no guilt whatsoever. This is an all too common situation that pet owners find themselves in when waking. What started with good intentions from yourself (but maybe not so much from your cheeky pet), has resulted in your four-legged friend taking full advantage of your love for them. Whilst this may be an attempt for comfort and to dissipate heat, your furry friend is now finally where they really want to be.
